COVID-19 UPDATE
TUESDAY 26 MAY 2020
4:00PM
Stage 2 restrictions commence on June 12th which allows for 20 people to participate in indoor and outdoor sport. However, the 1.5m social distancing, average density of 4m2 per person and non-contact restrictions are also still in place during this stage. This obviously poses some major issues for us and our industry particularly for all our non or weak swimmers who require regular contact and physical support.
The safety and wellbeing of our patrons, swimmers, their parents and all the grandparents who visit our facility always has and always will be paramount to us. This is why, following our Prime Minister’s announcement on March 22nd, we closed the following day to ensure we complied with all COVID -19 guidelines.

NOW FOR THE EXCITING NEWS! We have been putting off an official announcement for a couple of weeks now waiting to see what guidelines changed to make re-opening as simple as possible for all our families.

After carefully considering all the current guidelines, recommendations, and the feasibility of operating under the current conditions we are super excited to announce we will be reopen our business (at the latest) for all our swimming lessons, aqua aerobics, kindy groups and dolphin squad, 9am on Monday 13th July. This is the first day of the 3rd school term and the first Monday of Stage 3 restrictions which comes into effect on the 10th July.

Here at AquaJets we are very fortunate that pre Covid-19 our swim school was established with some business promises. 2 of which were a small maximum number of swimmers in our program and a maximum of 2 instructors in our main pool and 1 instructor in our smaller pool.

In the current covid-19 environment, and with these existing business promises we are in an ideal position to open with more than the minimum amount water space required per swimmer as well as adequate social distancing space for our parents. Additionally we have also been working on and developing a new non-contact swimming program that could also be introduced if required.

What will AquaJets look like when we re-open? No one knows for sure as all the information is constantly changing. All we can definitively say is different, but better. Covid-19 has changed the way everyone lives and how businesses operate – with many of these changes for the better. What we can guarantee is a higher level of expertise in our teaching and coaching, as well as our promised “BETTER NEW NORMAL”, which we cannot wait to roll out when we re-open!

Pre-empting the most obvious question, is there any chance we can open prior to this date? Absolutely! The only guideline stopping us from re-opening at present is the social distancing of 1.5m between our students and instructors. Our governing bodies such as ASCTA, Swim Australia, ASSA, RLSSA and others have been working very hard behind the scenes to help all swim schools across the country re-open. In the event these guidelines are changed or altered we have a plan in place that is adaptable and can be implemented immediately provided its feasible and safe for everyone to return.

We would like to reassure all our families that the measures, policies, and procedures we are implementing will be in line with or exceeding the guidelines and recommendations set by the federal, state and local governments as well as all our governing bodies. But most importantly provide piece of mind to all our families and your children that you will all be entering a safe environment.

For any of those wishing to read through the numerous documents associated with our decision to reopen we will post these to our social media accounts, our website, and our app.

As we move closer to re-opening, we will keep all our families up to date with the latest information. You will also begin receiving information regarding our policies, procedures our Covid-19 plan, a checklist for all our families as well as other important operational information.

We hope everyone stays safe, stays healthy and we look forward to seeing everyone back in the pool at the latest in Term 3.

COVID-19 UPDATE
MONDAY 23 MARCH 2020
12:17PM

It is with a very heavy heart that we have made the decision to cease all our programs effective immediately.

This morning we have consulted with our governing bodies, the Rockhampton Regional Council and our WH&S advisor.

With the new restrictions put in place by the government, our indoor swim school falls clearly into the category of “indoor sporting venues”.

What does this mean for the rest of Term 1?

What does this mean for Term 2?

There are a wide range of questions that everyone, ourselves included have regarding the current situation. As this decision is fresh, we are in the process of finalising solutions to all these questions.

We will email all our families in the next 24-48hrs with a detailed update on what we are doing moving forward (short and long term).

For those families who have a pool, a friend with a pool, or even a bath (for our babies) and would like to continue some form of swimming we are developing some on-line resources for families to use.

Please look out for further information which we will post in the coming days.

We would like to thank everyone who has been involved in our business this past 12 months. Your support has meant the world to us.

Brian, Bern and Bella.
